ABSTRACT
With increasing globalization of the manufacturing sector comes the need to transport medicines greater distances between source and customer, as well as consequent increased transit times and the use of a variety of temporary storage locations and transport systems. So in these points all medicines require some degree of temperature control of their storage and transportation environments, some, particularly biological products and the products of biotechnology, require more rigorous controls. Taking into account this practical problem W.H.O (2004) recommended Good Distribution Practices (GDP) in which the cold chain management involves all of the storage and transport facilities necessary to transport a product requiring controlled low-temperature storage from manufacture to the end users. To ensure that transportation does not become damaged or compromised throughout this process, businesses in the pharmaceutical, medical and food industries are increasingly relying on the cold chain technology <http://people.hofstra.edu/geotrans/eng/ch5en/conc5en/coldchain.html>. From an economic development perspective, the cold chain enables many developing countries to take part in the global perishable products market.
Key words: cold chain, temperature, transportation.
